🎯

In short

  • A bigger question bank may not raise a stuck PTE score. Feedback and coaching can.
  • ScoreFluent shows which trait, which word and which sound lost marks.
  • Its AI tutor tells you what to practise next. Reading and listening practice is free.
  • You can keep APEUni for questions and add ScoreFluent for coaching.

You may want an APEUni alternative because you need different feedback or a different way to plan practice. APEUni publishes PTE practice, AI scoring, mock exams and study tools. Here is what ScoreFluent adds.

Why a bigger question bank stops working

A question bank gives you material to practise. A useful report should also show why an answer scored as it did and what to change. Check the actual report each platform returns before you choose.

What to look for in an alternative

When you compare alternatives, look beyond the number of questions:

  • Per-trait feedback. You see which part of a speaking answer lost marks, not just a number.
  • Inline writing corrections on the exact sentences.
  • A tutor that decides what to practise next, from your own history.
  • Pricing you can verify, including whether paid access expires.

The alternative: ScoreFluent

ScoreFluent is built for the part APEUni leaves out: feedback and coaching.

  • Automated scoring. Submit your recording to get a scored result and feedback.
  • Trait and word feedback. Speaking is split into accuracy, fluency, prosody and content. Word-level feedback shows which word and which sound lost marks.
  • Inline writing corrections on the exact sentences, linked to the published rubric.
  • AI tutor Flo on every result. It remembers your weak sounds and grammar gaps. It tells you what to do next. You get free messages every day.
  • Free learning. Lessons, flashcards with spoken review, vocabulary practice, a placement check and a study plan. An in-app exam guide maps the whole exam with notes for each task.
  • Free reading and listening. Speaking and writing attempts get an examiner report, which costs credits (PTE speaking 8, essay 10). Credits never expire.
  • A free template-risk checker that flags repeated, generic language before you submit it.

You do not have to use only one platform. Test each free option, then keep the one that helps you act on your mistakes.

Should you switch?

  • If you want a different large question bank, APEUni is strong. You may not need to switch.
  • If your score is stuck and you need to know why, ScoreFluent adds that.

Sources and review method

Reviewed 14 October 2026. APEUni features were checked against its official homepage and official VIP feature guide. ScoreFluent details were checked in the live product code and against the scoring methodology.
