🎯

In short

  • APEUni publishes PTE AI scoring and study tools. Gurully publishes 150+ PTE mocks. AlfaPTE has custom mocks.
  • ScoreFluent focuses on detailed feedback and guided next steps.
  • ScoreFluent reading and listening practice is free. Credits for examiner reports never expire. No subscription.
  • Pearson uses human content review on several open-response tasks, so prompt fit matters.

You have many tools for PTE Academic in 2026. It is hard to choose. This is an honest comparison of ScoreFluent, APEUni, Gurully and AlfaPTE.

This post is written by the ScoreFluent team. We disclose that bias and link the official product pages used for competitor facts.

How we compared them

Question counts are easy to compare, but they do not describe the feedback you receive. We looked at both practice volume and what each platform publishes about its reports:

  • Feedback quality. Does it tell you why, per trait, or only show a number?
  • Pricing model. Do you keep what you paid for, or does it expire?
  • Speaking scoring. Separate traits, or one score?
  • 2026 readiness. Does it match Pearson's AI-plus-human scoring and the new task types?
  • Coaching. Does anything decide what to practise next?
  • Question bank. How much practice material, and how recent?
  • Mock tests. Full-length and timed, not only single questions.

Mock tests are a topic of their own. See our guide to PTE mock tests with AI scoring. Here we compare whole platforms.

APEUni — PTE practice and study tools

APEUni's official pages advertise PTE practice, speaking and writing AI scoring, mock exams and study tools such as vocabulary and shadowing. Its public pages did not show us a current price table during this review.

Consider APEUni if: its PTE practice and study tools fit your routine. Test the current free access first.

Gurully — published mock volume across four exam families

Gurully's official site publishes 150+ full PTE mocks, 100+ section-wise tests per section and 30,000+ practice questions. It also covers IELTS, CELPIP and Duolingo. Access runs on fixed-duration plans.

Pick Gurully if: you want many full mocks, or you are preparing for more than one exam.

AlfaPTE — the mock-customiser

AlfaPTE gives you control over the mock: full, sectional and timed mocks, and a "create your own mock" builder. It advertises instant AI scoring, study planning, performance progress and templates.

Two cautions. Treat every practice score as an estimate unless independent outcome evidence supports it. If you use a template, adapt it to the prompt; Pearson applies human content review to several open-response tasks.

Pick AlfaPTE if: you want to build custom mocks and follow structured templates.

ScoreFluent — built to move a stuck score

Our case is narrow: if you practise a lot but your score is stuck, ScoreFluent is built for that.

  • Automated scoring. Submit your recording to get a scored result and feedback.
  • Feedback that names the trait and the word. Speaking is scored on accuracy, fluency, prosody and content, using acoustic analysis. Word-level pronunciation feedback shows which word and which sound lost marks. Writing gets inline corrections on the exact sentences, linked to the published rubric.
  • A tutor on every result. AI tutor Flo remembers your weak sounds, time-wasters and grammar gaps. It tells you what to practise next. You get free messages every day. None of the other platforms above decide this for you.
  • Free learning. Lessons, flashcards with spoken review, vocabulary practice that teaches words before testing them, a placement check and a study plan. An in-app exam guide maps the whole exam, with notes for each task.
  • Pricing you keep. Reading and listening practice is free. Credits buy Examiner reports (PTE speaking 8, essay 10) and full mock tests (40 credits). Packs are one-time: 100 credits for $7.99, 600 for $23.97, 2000 for $35.99 (USD; local prices vary). Credits never expire. There is no subscription. Failed scoring is refunded.
  • Built for 2026 scoring. We support the current task set, including Summarize Group Discussion and Respond to a Situation. We warn against memorised templates and give you a free template-risk checker.
  • More than PTE. Seven exam families and eight profiles in one app: PTE, IELTS Academic, IELTS General Training, TOEFL, LanguageCert, CELPIP, Cambridge C1 Advanced and MET. Every family has a full mock. C1 Advanced has three seeded sectionals; MET has sectionals for all four skills. IELTS, LanguageCert and C1 Advanced speaking also have a live speaking partner.
  • Two starting assessments. The free placement test samples skills for your chosen exam. The paid English Diagnostic is a longer four-skill assessment that recommends an exam and study plan.

Consider ScoreFluent if: you want detailed evidence from each answer and guided next steps, with no subscription clock.

The honest bottom line

No platform fits everyone. Compare the free workflow, the report you receive and the current access terms. If you want custom mocks, AlfaPTE publishes that feature. If you want a large published PTE mock library or Duolingo, review Gurully. If you want APEUni's PTE study tools, try its free access. If you want word-level evidence and guided next steps, try ScoreFluent.

You can start practising free with 40 free credits, and check any response for template risk without signing up.
